Chapter 1: Engagement

Today was no ordinary day for the Oberois. It was the day their new heirs got engaged—all of them.

The business world was left stunned. The news had broken just yesterday, and today—an engagement. Not one, but four. The suddenness sent shockwaves through corporate circles and ignited chaos in the media.

No one knew who the brides were.
No names. No faces. No background details.

The media went mad, crowding outside the grand Oberoi building, desperate for answers—but entry was strictly forbidden. Inside, the engagement hall shimmered with elegance, wealth screaming silently from every crystal chandelier and floral arrangement. The guests gathered impatiently, their curiosity burning. Everyone was waiting for one thing—

The Oberoi brides.

None of them had been seen yet.

None of their names had been revealed.

Just a day earlier, Tejas Oberoi had released a single, firm statement:

“We would like to inform everyone that the marriages of the new Oberoi heirs have been fixed, and tomorrow will be their engagement. Our priority in choosing our daughters-in-law was their nature and beauty. Their background does not matter to us. What mattered, we found. Any comments regarding their past or status will not be tolerated. Thank you.”

And that was the end of it.

The Oberois mingled with guests, calm and composed—except for the new heirs, who were busy on the stage discussing business matters, as if today meant nothing more than another meeting. Saumya Oberoi watched them, irritation flickering across her face.

Saumya: "Please leave your business outside—at least till your marriage."

Her tone held frustration. Her sons carried work everywhere. She sighed.

Saumya: "Are you all ready? The engagement is about to start."

The heirs merely nodded. With another tired sigh, Saumya walked away.

Host: "Without wasting any more time, let us begin today’s ceremony. Are you all ready to meet the Oberoi brides?"

“Yes!”
The hall echoed with excitement.

Host: "Let us welcome the first bride of the day, the elder daughter-in-law of the Oberoi family. Please welcome—Sanskruti Sharma!"

The lights instantly focused on the grand staircase. Sanskruti stood there—poised, graceful, breathtaking. A collective gasp rippled through the hall.

Host (smiling): "Don’t gasp yet—there’s much more beauty to witness today. Now, I request Suraj Oberoi to bring his future wife to the stage."

Sanskruti’s POV:

I stood on the staircase—ordered to stand there for the “grand entry".… how ironic. The moment my name was announced, lights blinded me. My eyes refused to lift from the floor. I wasn’t used to such grandeur—such elite gatherings. My heart pounded wildly.

Then I felt it. A presence.

Without a word, a hand wrapped around mine.

Strong. Certain.

He didn’t ask.
He didn’t wait.

He simply took me toward the stage.

Sanskruti’s POV End.

The first couple settled gracefully. The host continued.

Host: "Let us welcome the second bride of the day and second daughter-in-law of the Oberoi family—Ishita Arora!"

Once again, the lights focused on the staircase. Ishita stood there, stunning. Another wave of gasps followed.

Host: "I now request Daksh Oberoi to bring his future wife to the stage."

Ishita’s POV:

I stood where all the brides were told to stand, wanting to run away.

Why all this drama?

Its feel like I'm in auction. When the host announced Daksh would come get me, irritation flared.

Am I a child? I can walk myself.

My thoughts shattered when he reached me and held my hand. Our eyes met—for barely two seconds. Then he turned and walked, pulling me along.

Ishita’s POV End.

The second couple took their place. The atmosphere thickened.

Host: "Please welcome the third bride of the day and third daughter-in-law of the Oberoi family—Ruhi Thakur!"

The lights focused again. This time, the guests weren’t surprised. With the Oberois, beauty was expected.

Host: "Now I request Vivan Oberoi to—"

Before the host could finish, Vivan strode toward the staircase. The hall froze.

Ruhi’s POV

I stood there, heart racing. This marriage… this stranger… everything terrified me. Before I could breathe, he was already coming toward me—fast, aggressive.

Why does he look like he’s about to devour me?

He reached me, grabbed my wrist, and dragged me toward the stage. It hurt. More than that—it humiliated me. I refused to cry. Not here. Not in front of everyone.

Ruhi’s POV End.

Gasps filled the hall. Everyone was shocked—except the Oberois. The brothers exchanged looks as if this was expected. The host forced an awkward smile and continued.

Host: "And now, the youngest daughter-in-law of the Oberoi family. Please welcome—Kiara Kapoor!"

Lights focused once more.

Host: "I request Aditya Oberoi to bring his future wife to the stage."

Kiara’s POV

I stood there, fear clawing at my chest.

What if he’s like the third one? What will I do then?

I kept my eyes down. He reached me—but instead of pulling me forward, he stopped beside me. Curious, I looked up. He was smirking. Before I could question anything, his hand slid to my waist.

I froze. Then he started walking. I hesitated. He looked at me—calm, commanding. I followed. To the audience, we looked like a perfect couple.

But that smirk…

It wasn’t gentle.

It was dangerous.

Kiara’s POV End.

The ceremony began.

Suraj and Sanskruti exchanged rings calmly. Daksh and Ishita did so without even touching. Vivan and Ruhi struggled—Ruhi’s hands trembled.

Vivan (low voice): "I’m not going to eat you, idiot."

For the first time, he waited. Looking down, Ruhi slowly slid the ring onto his finger. No touch. No eye contact.

Then came the final couple.

Aditya stepped closer to Kiara, held her hand, slid the ring onto her finger—and whispered:

Aditya: "It’s just a ring. You still have time to run. Because once you’re trapped with me, there’s no turning back. I’ll make your life hell.”

He walked away, leaving her frozen. Shaking, Kiara slid the ring onto his finger—without looking at him. He stared at her.

Smirking.

After the Ceremony:

The guests slowly departed. Only a few stayed back.

Meegha: Chalo, baccho. Let’s have dinner.

“We’re not hungry.”

All four brides spoke at once. Shock filled the room. Even they stared at each other.

Sanskruti: “I’ll go rest.”

Ishita: “Me too.”

Kiara: “Me too.”

Ruhi: “Me too.”

Meegha opened her mouth—but Saumya stopped her with a firm grip. Saumya nodded, allowing them to leave. One by one, the brides walked away. Their husbands watched silently until they disappeared from sight.

Dinner continued.

Unbothered.

At the head of the family, Nandani Oberoi calmly instructed the servants:

“Send dinner to all the brides’ rooms.”

The Oberoi game had officially begun.
